Being
a mom myself, having children has given me a whole new perspective
on the power of photography and how a child's "true self" can be
captured on film. Not only can we "record a milestone", but we can
(and should) preserve the emotion and inner beauty of our precious
little ones with timeless, storytelling images.
Call or Email Exposures Unlimited today for
your free consultation so that we may discuss how we can create the perfect
portrait of your child.

Planning For Child
Portraits
While planning for your child's portrait, please consider the following
suggestions...
-
Keep clothing simple.
-
Solid colors look best.
-
Different colors tend to set different moods.
Dark, light, or different tones in between will be fine as long as it matches
the "look" you are trying to portray. Example: For a formal look, you
might choose a dark, solid color for a traditional or somewhat dramatic feel. Or
for a more casual look, jeans or a jean dress, overalls or a simple white slip
dress and bare feet make for a very fun feel. (Be sure to discuss clothing in
your Pre Portrait Consultation. It really does make a difference!)
-
Avoid busy patterns, and the colors yellow or
green (they adversely affect skin color).
-
Consider a theme. Ideas include, but are not
limited to: Gone Fishing, At the Beach, Birthday Party, Pumpkin Patch, Farmer
Boy/Girl, Dress Up (like mom or dad), Sleep Time, etc.

What to bring...
-
A well rested and fed child (sounds silly,
but a child who has had breakfast or lunch, etc. and a nap are more likely to be
cooperative and in a great mood).
-
A snack or bottle/juice (just in case).
-
A favorite toy or blanket that is special to
the child to help them to feel comfortable.
-
A personal item that you would like to use as
a "prop". Maybe it is a family heirloom or a special teddy bear.
-
PATIENCE! I spend plenty of time with the
child to get to know them and let them lead the session (with my guidance, of
course). Patience from the parent is a key element in a successful portrait. A
relaxed parent means a relaxed child.
Please note: If your child isn't
feeling well, fever/stuffy nose/cold, please call to reschedule. Overnight
ailments are a part of childhood and we will be more than happy to set up
another time when your child is feeling well.
We would be happy to answer any questions
